Job Summary:

Capybara Games is looking for a Generalist Programmer to join our team and help us build our next awesome games. We’re a team of close-knit game developers looking for programmers with a passion for making games and helping us take on new challenges in the indie space. An ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge, an interest in developing gameplay features and systems, and have a passion for building games. Candidates from traditionally marginalised groups and backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Designing and implementing game systems which meet production goals and consider codebase longevity and robustness.

  • Meeting time commitments to design, develop and/or optimise gameplay features. 

  • Advising production stakeholders on architectural approaches to desired features.

  • Planning, designing and implementing efficient and maintainable code.

  • Documenting existing systems and performing analysis on legacy systems to figure out optimizations and improvements.

  • Communicating implementation decisions both verbally and in documentation to key stakeholders.

Relevant Experience:

  • Demonstrable experience of C/C++/C#

  • Experience in Unity game development

  • Interest in game design and game development

Required Skills:

  • Strong skills in C, C++, C# and Object Oriented Programming.

  • Strong analytical skills.

  • Very strong debugging skills.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Strong reporting and documentation skills.

  • Result-oriented.

This position can be either at our studio in Toronto, or remote, but being in the GTA is preferred.  We are currently working remotely.
