Hey folks! It might seem like ages ago, but E3 was crazy for us. Phil Spencer walked out on stage at Microsoft’s press conference in a Capy shirt and introduced a teaser trailer for our newest game, BELOW. Later that week we showed another trailer for Below as a part of HORIZON (which was the greatest). The reaction from fans, press and colleagues was amazing – we’re so glad that you’re all as excited about Below as we are.

However, because of the way the game was announced & discussed in the press, there was naturally a little bit of confusion after the dust settled. And that confusion stuck around. So, to clear things up, we wanted to take a quick second and answer your number one question:

Like many games on stage at E3, Below will be available on the Xbox One first. Then, after a period of time, CAPY can bring it elsewhere. It’s always been this way.

We’ve said it many times before, but it is worth repeating: working with Microsoft Studios has been great, and they deserve real kudos for putting our dreamy roguelike-inspired game of exploration and discovery in the spotlight at E3… and we are certain they’ll continue to do more of that going forward. This clarification is about answering our fans, and shouldn’t reflect negatively on Microsoft or Xbox One – they’ve been the biggest CAPY supporters out there (and also lets face it: Titanfall and Halo are going to be crazy delicious game magic). The Xbox 360 has been a great home for marquee downloadable games, and we believe this is something that will continue, and grow, over the years on Xbox One.

At CAPY, our goal has always been simple: Create unique, beautiful video games that we love… and bring them wherever there is an audience (and ideally, a great controller) to play them. This is our goal with Below. This is our goal with Super TIME Force. This will be our goal with whatever crazy idea we do next.

Thanks for listening/reading and apologies for any confusion. To all of our fans: Thank you for your support. We appreciate it so so so much.

From Nathan Vella & Kris Piotrowski, on behalf of the crew here at Capy.

On March 24th, 2011 Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP launched on iPad. The first hours after its release were exciting, stressful, celebratory and even terrifying (as game-centric twitter feeds exploded). We watched as the game hit the top 10 paid games chart before we were even featured. Leading up to launch we knew we had made something cool. After launch we knew there was an audience that appreciated it.

Over the next 2+ years, we brought the game to PC, Mac & Linux. We collaborated with the amazing folks from 8-4 to create a version specifically for Japan. With the help of Apportable, we brought the game to Android. We joined our close friends in the most successful Humble Indie Bundle of all time, and joined a great Android Bundle as well.

With over 1.5 million copies sold, it’s pretty obvious that #Sworcery has been a resounding success. And we’d like to share a few details of that success with you. There’s not that many titles out there that began on iOS and made their way to this many other platforms over time, so we hope that this info is helpful in some way/shape/form.

Without further ado, lets take a look…

And, as an added little bonus, Mr Jim Guthrie has also provided some interesting data regarding the breakdown of #Sworcery soundtrack sales. Take a peek:

S&S Jimmy Stats

It has been a pretty wild ride, and to everyone that helped make the game such a success, we’re glad you joined us for it. Here’s hoping these stats are useful, and feel free to let us know if you’d like to see any others.

Thanks for your support, and we are now cosmic friends forever.

This week on the PlayStation Store, Capy’s Critter Crunch and our good friend Jon Mak’s Everyday Shooter are both on sale for $1 each. That’s a pretty crazy deal for two pretty crazy games.

To celebrate, we invited Jon Mak into the studio. He decided to bring the guitar he used to create music for Everyday Shooter with him, and then proceeded to jam out the song from the first level. Biggs joined him.

For a bunch more info, including a little bit about why these games are important to us, hop on over to the PlayStation Blog.
