03.12.09We made a game that comes in a box

Grid

To some, developing a game that is packaged in a box and sold in stores is normal. It is definitely not normal to Capy.

From the days before we even had a studio and met at a local bar, until Dec. 1st 2009, every single game that Capy had made was sold digitally – on a cell phone carrier, on the app store, on the PlayStation®Network. That all changed with the North American release of our little indie studio’s first Nintendo DS title, Might & Magic Clash of Heroes. It has box art, and a cartridge, and a manual. It comes wrapped in plastic.

While not everyone at Capy worked on the game directly, everyone at the studio played a role in making the game. This is a huge internet-based thanks to our whole team for helping us, directly or indirectly, to make a game that comes in a box.

What a cool moment.

Looks like Vic is about to do something totally inappropriate with that box. Looks like Mike already did that inappropriate thing… I always thought it would be Matt…

    Hello,
I am not really into commenting but I had to take a moment to give some feedback: This is a truly excellent game that you have made. It really blends strategy and puzzle better than any of the recent mash-ups, and it looks wonderful to boot. I’m really happy and impressed. The variety of objectives and units layer perfectly on the simple mechanics. Seriously, this is a great game!

So, um, thanks for making it?

    Cheers

    Dudes! Congratulations!

I got pumped for Might & Magic from IGN’s great preview, and I immediately pre-ordered it. Just got it from Amazon today, and it’s AWESOME! Smashing together an addictive puzzle design with a classic SNES-style fantasy game is brilliant, and an absolute perfect fit for the DS! I especially wanna thank you guys for implementing the touch screen controls – I’m currently on dialysis, so having games that I can play with one hand is important (and I’m kinda sick of RPG’s like Final Fantasy III, despite how excellent they are). This is an absolutely perfect DS game! Congrats on shipping it!

Oh, and Critter Crunch is cool too! You guys should bring this Might & Magic design to PSN, XBLA or Wiiware too!
