19.01.15WORK WITH US – 3D ARTIST
Hey! We’re Toronto-based independent videogame developer Capy (short for Capybara Games) and we’re looking for a passionate, multi-talented 3D artist to come work with us! We’ve got a lot of projects on the go, but one in particular needs some help with 3D modeling, textures & materials, rigging & animation. In short, we’re looking for a ‘generalist’ to help out on all 3D elements in on this upcoming title. This is a 9 month contract position.
The ideal candidate has a passion for creating art for games, and for games in general. They are eager to collaborate closely with a small, tight-knit, cross-disciplinary team, and ideally will have all of the following skills:
• Experience using Maya (or other industry-standard 3D packages)
• Experience modeling in 3D (characters, creatures, objects), especially in low-poly.
• Experience creating textures and materials
• Experience rigging 3D models
• Experience creating 3D animation
• Python scripting knowledge is a plus
• Knowledge of rendering pipelines
• Ability to work well within an established art style
• Ability to never be a total bummer.
And here are a few firm requirements to consider:
• Living in the Toronto area, and/or willing to commute to our downtown studio. This position is not open to remote work.
• Experience working within a team environment, and taking direction.
• You’ve made things. It doesn’t have to be a commercially available game, film or project, but we require that you show us you’re constantly creating, for any reason – personal or professional.
To apply for the position, please send an email to jointheteam /at/ capybaragames dot com with the subject line “3D Artist Application”. Please include your resume in the body of the email, as well as links to your portfolio and/or reel, and a link to your personal blog/sketchbook. Please do not include any file attachments. We may request that qualifying applicants complete an art test.

2014 was a busy, challenging and ultimately, great year for Capy. Lets take a quick walk down memory lane, and celebrate a whole whack of radical things that took place.
The biggest and bestest part of 2014 for us at Capy was the release of Super Time Force on Xbox One & Xbox360, and subsequently, Super Time Force Ultra on Steam/PC. Our time traveling platformer started as a little game jam game by Capy’s Kenneth Yeung, Mike Nguyen & Vic Nguyen. A couple years later, it was a finished game released on a bunch of platforms… and everyone at Capy feels like its one of the best things we’ve ever made. STF received a bunch of awards and end of year accolades, all of which made us feel pretty cool. Kookabunga!
Also on Super Time Force Ultra, we had the chance to reveal the PS4 & VITA versions on stage at the inaugural PlayStation Experience. We had a little surprise for Sony fans, and announcing PlayStation’s Shuhei Yoshida as a playable character was a great moment for us. Huge thanks to Mr. Yoshida for being genuinely excited and super supportive!
Meanwhile, we continued our hard work on Capy’s upcoming game of exploration and survival, BELOW. We brought the game to PAX EAST to let fans play it for the first time ever, and even showed a crazy new trailer during Microsoft’s press conference at Gamescom in Cologne, Germany.
Earlier in the year, our president Nathan Vella had the chance to host the 16th annual IGF Awards. It was a huge honor for Nathan, and for Capy. He did a pretty ok job.
Also on the awards tip, we won Best Game Innovation 2014 at the Canadian Videogame Awards, which happened in our home town of Toronto.
Our games continued to be shown as part of The Game Masters exhibition as it tours around the world…
Renaud & MC had a beautiful son named Octave, who already is hard at work at Capy…
#Sworcery continued to make an impact years later, and we were super proud to see Anita & Caroline list it as one of their Five Feminist Moments in the History of Videogames…
Oh yeah, and Capy Jam 4 was a game jammin’ good time!
Phew… that should be all of it. That said, there was probably a ton of other things happened that we’re forgetting.
In closing, from everyone at Capy to everyone who has & continues to support our crazy little studio… THANK YOU + HAVE A HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
Hello time travelers! We’re super excited to announce that the award-winning and face-melting SUPER TIME FORCE ULTRA is headed to PlayStation 4 & PlayStation VITA in 2015!
We’re proud to be bringing our pixelated baby to Sony platforms. So proud, in fact, that we decided to add some new characters for PlayStation fans… including the best-tweeting, nicest, most-photoshoped-into-gifs executive in videogames, Mr. Shuhei Yoshida himself.
So please, check out the trailer, charge the batteries on your VITA, debate quantum mechanics and prepare to grab the steering wheel of time when SUPER TIME FORCE ULTRA launches. Kookabunga!

SUPER TIME FORCE ULTRA IS OUT!!!!
NEW FEATURES: SUPER POWERFUL ULTRA FORCE CHARACTERS! THREE SMOKING HOT VALVE CHARACTERS! 50 INSANE HELLADECK LEVELS! TOTAL NON-STOP-TIME-TRAVELING-ACTION-INSANITY!
Super Time Force Ultra is coming to Steam on August 25th, and it’s bringing along three new friends that should be a little familiar…
Light’em up! Pyro from Team Fortress 2 dials the heat to 11, then rewinds and dials it to 12. Destroy evil robots with the flare gun, or roast them good with the patented Pyro flame thrower.
She’s got two pistols and an endless supply of propane tanks. Zoey from Left 4 Dead has taken a break from slaying zombies to hop through time with the Super Time Force! Blast baddies with twin handguns, or lob an explosive propane tank their way for maximum ‘splodiness.
When he’s not jumping from planes without a chute, wrastling gators, or beating up hippies, Team Fortress 2’s Saxton Hale tags along as the Super Time Force’s resident brawler/business man. Saxton uses his massive muscles, bare knuckles and self-confidence to smash Blounbot’s into a metal pulp. Then he rewinds and does it again.
Want to see theses new characters, plus the other new STFU features in action? Head over to CAPY’S TWITCH and watch the crew livestream all this amazing stuff later today.
